BOUNDARY STONES AND COMMEMORATIVE PLAQUES OF THE BATTLE OF CASTELFIDARDO

The rustic farmhouses and the countryside pathways which were used as reference point in the military maps of that age, are still present in the battlefield area. The 18th September 1960, on the centenary of the battle of Castelfidardo, the National Committee for the Celebrations put marble boundary stones and plaques describing the stages of the conflict. In the battle area there are seven stones; the plaques, on the contrary, were put in the neighborhood Crocette and at the entrance of the Municipal Hall.

In front of the Ferretti Foundation in Via della Battaglia n° 52 there is a big marble map describing the relocations of the armies, to testify the point where General Georges de Pimodan was murdered (one of the determining facts for the papal army defeat).
